Incorporated into the UKA cross-challenge event, round 2 of the Chiltern League held at Teardrops Lake, Milton keynes, had an extra competitive edge. The muddy, undulating 9.5 course saw an improved team performance from the senior mens’ team- 5th place on the day moving them up t0 6th overall after 2 matches.
Damian Nevins finished in 4th place with the improving Jim Cooper in 20th place. Both Chris Jones and Glen Wright-Colopy showed good support through top 50 finishes with Mark Cursons, Declan Traynor and Alan Wray all running strongly to finish inside the top 100. Graeme Jones just missed out on a top 100 place and Aaron Clement made a good cross-country debut for the club in 113th. Tim Fenn, Nick Andrews, Matt Carey, Steve Bland and Jason Kabel all had top 200 placings as did 17 year old Aaron O’Connell making his senior club debut and moving through the field well debut despite missing the start! U17 men’s manager Tom Morris (non-scoring) continued his return from injury in 240th place.
Our veterans team were again impressive with a win on the day, leading overall after 2 matches and on course to retain their title from last year! All this without marathon man Chris Finill nursing a calf injury and Luke Hunt who should both return for match 3.
