Last night the Club held a hugely successful 3K open meeting with over 200 athletes visiting the Bannister Stadium to compete across 12 seeded races. Despite the sunny but surprisingly cool conditions, there were personal bests and near bests for many of our athletes – full roundup to follow shortly.
It was also an occassion to send off Damian Nevins with our best wishes and he ran well to finally improve on Mike Green’s 1990 V40 record (9:10) with a mark of 8:59.31! Chris Hudson also broke the 9 minute barrier with 8:56.85 – well done to all our athletes last night!
Thank you also to all the race organisers and volunteers who did such a splendid job in making the meeting such a success. There were many very happy athletes going home grateful that they were once again competing and looking forward to a summer season with great optimism! Below are the meeting photos – I hope I captured everyone at least once.
