Inter club and open meetings are beginning to pick up and here’s a roundup of those events known to me – do share others to add to the report 🙂
Lets start with an endurance race: Chris Finill ran the North Downs Way 50 miler on Saturday, completing the course in 9hours and 48mins – this included 2 extra miles for good measure and a total ascent of 6,140feet! I’m concerned that as he now has a little more time on his hands, he’s planning something special in the next 12 months – watch this space.
Mark Cursons ventured outside of the capital and ran a 3,000m up at Milton Keynes also on Saturday recording 10:06.45 which places him third V55 as things currently stand. Many were impressed with his turn of speed on the last lap as he recorded 77s – although in his mind he was “floating a 64” 😉
Kesi Oludoyi was moving slightly quicker as he recorded 21.89s at Nuneaton on 16th May and Adrien Coulibaly leads the club 400m rankings with a splendid 49.12 set at our open meeting on 13th May!
Max Schopp also dipped under 50s with a 49.20s timing on 25 April and followed this up with a superb 52.37s 400mH at Bromley this weekend.
In Belfast Neil Johnston ran a personal best 14:08.1 for 5000m and on the roads Luke Hunt recently ran a sprightly 33:09 10Km at Goodwood!
In the field, U15 athlete Lewis Sorhaindo Long Jumped 5.29m at our 13th May open meeting whilst Lewis Byng putted a mark of 17.10m in Birmingham on 12th May.
Matthew Lee recorded 43.05m in the discus on 16th May at Nuneaton and in Colchester on the same day Dave Sketchley threw 55.67 in the Javelin.
